Discover – Our Story

House of Healing began as a service in Lord Lounge of the African Heritage House. A handful of students ( both of which Pastor Knight and Pastor Kay were a part of) felt the Lord wanted to do something new in Oberlin. They went on a week’s fast asking the Lord to send revival to Oberlin. At the end of the week, they felt led to hold a church service in the lounge that Sunday morning. When Sunday came, they went knocking on all of the doors inviting people to service. The lounge became filled with people. There was an estimated 30 people in service that morning. This would be the beginning of God answering the prayers of this same handful of Oberlin students.

The following year it was decided that James and Keymasha would continue the services once a month. The church became known as Church in the House. That was the year 1998-99. The following year the services were held weekly. In the year 2000, church was moved to the Cat in the Cream , a larger facility on Oberlin’s campus to accommodate the growth of the young ministry. Here is where God gave the name House of Healing Outreach International Ministries to both Pastor Knight and Pastor Kay. From there they moved to a larger facility in Oberlin called Fairchild Chapel. There the ministry continued to expand and see hundreds of people come to the Lord.

In 2008, God moved upon the heart of Pastor Knight and led him to start a second church in downtown Elyria called House of Healing’s “iBelieve Church.”  The first service was held on Easter Sunday. Now in a little more than a year, God has blessed “iBelieve” to become one of the fastest growing churches in NE Ohio.
